It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing of Steve Davis last Thursday.
For those who did not know him, Steve was joined the Club in 1983 at the age of 14 and was an integral part of the club in the 1980’s and 90’s organising many races, social events and summer tours, as well as serving on the club committee for many years as ‘Merchandising Secretary’.
Steve was always much more of a leisure / touring cyclist than a racer, but his ‘stand out’ competitive ‘claim to fame’ was winning the Club Hill Climb (on Hazeleigh Hill) with a 1.37 in the early 2000’s.
The term ‘Larger than Life’ sums up Steve’s personality and character perfectly, and he was friend to many club members, past and present, who will greatly miss his humour but will, no doubt, cherish the memories he helped create over the past 40 years.
We at the Maldon and District CC or, as Steve would probably preferred, MAD CC send our deepest condolences to Steve’s family at this sad time.
