CLICK HERE  Update: On form George rode in a SERRL summer series, (event 22) yesterday (8/9/13). A  E/1/2 road race George was soon in the action getting away on lap 1 in a group of five. The breakaway looked promising, however it didn't stay away and was pulled back after 2 laps. It looked like a bunch finish as it turned into the hard up hill road to the line. The bunch split all over the road as the speed went up and  George managed a fine 3rd place, with Lewis Atkins (Pedal Heaven RT) 2nd, and the race winner was Robert Moore (London Phoenix).

Sat July 6th: George Wood takes a win at Woodbridge today with Rob McLean fifth in the supporting race.

Matthew Menlove has now accumulated enough points to gain his 2nd category road race licence. Not bad going for his first year on the road circuit. Mark Beattie, Neil Chapman and Rob Maclean all travelled up to ride the Redgrave RR (Saturday 15th June ). Starting at 3pm and on a poorly surfaced, rough pot holed narrow 5 mile circuit (35miles total distance) it also had a very narrow poor surfaced lane of appox 3/4 mile with grass growing down the centre of the road, it was sure to be tough going.  The sun was shining at the start but  just two laps in there was a  down pour that carried on until 5mins after the event had finished. Rob who is new to the road racing but a very capable rider unfortunately was caught in the split appox 2 laps into the race and with the weather turning very wet dropped out with many other riders and called it a day. Neil Chapman managed 7th, and comeback man  Mark Beattie 10th.

Also in other events Maldons  young Josh Aldridge completed his first sprint distance triathlon at the Braintree & district triathlon in Halstead. It was a 400m swim, 21 km bike ride and a 5.2 km run. On a hilly course and a chilly and windy day he finished in 1hr 19mins. Well done Josh
