Crest Cycling Club - Two Counties Tour (Off Road Ride)

A good turn out from Maldon CC for the Crest Cycling Club Two Counties off road sportive which took place on Sunday 22nd September 2013.

Atleast 7 Maldon club riders took on the muddy challenge over distances of 40, 50 or 80km on the day. Seemed to be as many Maldon jerseys as there were Crest jerseys ;o)

Very muddy conditions made the going quite challenging in places.  Particularly so for Steve, who seemed to be riding a road bike on semi slick tyres - chapeau sir!

Nick Crowe took the plunge quite literally by riding through approx 2 feet of water in the ford which was enroute.  Others took the drier and easier route via a nearby field.

However, after a tough off road ride which included both a front and rear wheel puncture for "the kitman" it was a very well organised event and an excellent course.  So credit goes to Crest Cycling Club for arranging the sportive.

If a bit of off road cycling is your thing then this event is very well recommended and great value too.  I will be giving it a go next year for sure, albeit with some more robust tyres!

Well done to club members Nick, Chris, Rebecca, Allman, Graham, Steve and "The Kitman" for completing the sportive. There may have been others so apologies if I have missed you off.
