The second Maldon grass meeting on Saturday saw some great racing from the seniors with some powerful rides from club members. RESULTS

George Wood clearly showed he is more than a match for the seniors by taking high placings in almost all his events, and going home with pockets well filled with prize money.

The highlight of the day was the two lap National League Series sprint event which was won by CC Ashwell's Andrew Leverton. George Wood came fourth. Mike Tyas made it to the semi finals but was narrowly edged out in a blanket finish of six riders which took the judges some time to sort out.

In all, nine Maldon riders represented their club, all riding proficiently and aggressively.

Samantha Parker rode well in the age category as did Jake Darragh in his first grass event. Revelation of the day was Rhys Moore, riding a borrowed bike and showing levels of aggression we have not seen before. He must surely ride more of these.

Numbers and standards in the senior racing were both up on last year. The only slight disappointment of the day was that an accumulation of clashes and commitments kept several youth riders away. Hopefully we shall see them return next year.

Thanks to organiser Nick Beckley and all who contributed to the running of a great event.
